CLINTON, Utah – Clinton Police released the name of a man who was shot and killed by officers after he stabbed another man and a woman Thursday night.

Police identified the shooting victim as 32-year-old Christopher Anthony Alexander. According to court documents, he had violated his parole out of California and was labeled a fugitive from justice here in Utah in November.

Investigators believe the incident in Clinton started when Alexander got into an argument with another man who was living at the same home near 1700 North and 1300 East.

The woman left her home when she heard the commotion between the two men.

According to police, Alexander stabbed her multiple times.

“I kept on hearing a woman screaming,” Jim Wells said. “And it was over and over.”

The sound, at first, almost didn’t seem real.

“You never think something bad is going on outside,” Wells said.

Wells said then, someone pounded at his door.

“And I was like, ‘Are you okay?’ And she’s like, ‘I’ve been stabbed.’ So, I’m like, ‘Come inside,'” Wells said.

Within minutes, Clinton police had swarmed the neighborhood.

“I’m a CCW carrier, so I grabbed my weapon, I came outside to make sure he (Alexander) wasn’t coming to the house,” Wells said. “And then, we heard gunshots.”

Police had fired shots at Alexander, who was later pronounced dead at the scene.

Attention then turned to his victims.

“She had two gash… two lacerations bad ones on her back,” Wells said.

Wells said it’s incredible the woman maintained her composure, in spite of the wounds.

“She still had the presence of mind to run, make a phone call to 911,” he said.

It was a night neighbors will never forget.

“You never think it’s going to get to that point,” Jack Grimm said.

A night that makes them grateful for the quiet.

“Tragically, it ended the way it did,” Wells said. “But I don’t have to worry about it being around my children, or my wife, or my friends, so I slept fine.”

Police have not released the names of the stabbing victims, but said they were taken to area hospitals and are expected to recover.
