Utah has its share of national park rescues

ZION NATIONAL PARK — Earlier this week, search and rescue crews from Washington County rushed into Zion National Park on snow bikes and snowmobiles to assist a backpacker stranded in 2-3 feet snow.
The successful search is the latest addition to a list of rescues at the nation’s third-most visited park. In a three-year period, crew responded to 285 requests — the sixth-most of any national park. Outforia compiled records from parks and recreation areas and discovered that the Grand Canyon topped all locales with 785 rescues. Yosemite was second with 732, while Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks were third with 503.
Yellowstone (371) and Rocky Mountain National Park (341) check in at fourth and fifth, respectively. Utah is home to three of the next five. Besides Zion, there’s Glen Canyon National Recreation Area (279) and Arches (202)
Search and rescues at Utah’s five national parks and recreation areas accounted for 1,043 operations, ranking the state third overall.
