Police: Burglary suspect evades officers after wrong-way driving on I-15

LEHI, Utah — Police are searching for a suspect from a reported vehicle burglary they say fled from officers in Lehi and drove north in southbound Interstate 15 lanes before evading officers in Salt Lake County.

Police responded to reports of a vehicle burglary around 3:30 a.m. Wednesday in Lehi, according to Sgt. Marshall with the Lehi Police Department.

When Lehi officers arrived on scene, two suspect vehicles fled the scene – one in a white Ford with no license plate and a black truck with an Arizona plate.

Officers chased the truck throughout Lehi before it entered I-15 via the southbound offramp at 2100 North and started driving north.

Marshall said officers decided to terminate the pursuit at that point, but the Utah Highway Patrol and Utah Department of Transportation tracked the truck to 3500 South and Main Street in South Salt Lake.

Authorities spiked the truck’s tires, and Marshall said the suspect fled on foot and was not apprehended. Police said they don’t believe there is any ongoing threat to the public and no weapons were recovered at either scene.
