SALT LAKE CITY — Local and federal authorities have arrested the suspect accused of robbing two banks within four minutes of each other Tuesday.

Krishan Singh, 26, was booked into the Salt Lake County Jail for two counts of aggravated robbery and one count of robbery, according to the Salt Lake City Police statement.

According to the affidavit, Singh entered the Key bank on 1098 S. 300 West and passed a teller a note that he wanted $800 and he had a knife.

The teller cooperated with Singh’s demands, and Singh left the bank on foot. SLCPD officers revied the Key Bank security footage and determined that Singh was their suspect from the bank robberies on Friday.

Officers began to search for the suspect, with the FBI and the SLCPD Robbery Squad assisting with the search, according to the SLCPD statement.

At 2:41 p.m., law enforcement found Singh near 500 West 200 South near a UTA track station, according to police. Singh fought against law enforcement before being taken into custody without further issue.

The affidavit states Singh had $440 in his hand, and after an interview, he admitted to robbing the three banks. He also admitted to spending the Key Bank money to purchase new clothes and discarded the clothes he wore during the robbery.

According to the affidavit, Singh is suspected of robbing a Mountain America Credit Union and a Zions Bank on Friday.

During the Mountain America Credit Union robbery, witnesses told police that Singh passed a teller a note saying he needed $800.

“The teller tried to stall and asked the suspect a question, at which point the suspect left the credit union without obtaining any money,” reads the affidavit.

Afterward, Singh allegedly went to a nearby Zions Bank and passed a teller a note to them saying he had a knife and wanted $400.

According to the affidavit, the teller gave him the money and Singh left on foot.

SLCPD reviewed the security footage and determined that Singh was the same person who robbed both banks.
