Crossroads Urban Center gives away 650 Christmas dinners

SALT LAKE CITY — Many of us will spend Christmas Evening around the dinner table with our loved ones but the holidays can be tough for those less fortunate.
One group spent their entire day in Salt Lake City trying to change that.
Dozens of volunteers showed up Friday at Rowland Hall to hand out dinner bags with all of the fixings for a nice Christmas dinner.
They prepared enough bags to feed 650 families. The bags included turkey, stuffing, and pie.
The volunteers braved the cold and one by one they loaded up each car with a Christmas basket.
It’s an event that Crossroads Urban Center has held for more than a decade.
“I started Rowland Hall in seventh grade and went all the way up in high school before I went to college,” said Jess Johansson. “And I try to come back every year to help these guys out at this event.”
Every year more and more families need help.

“They’re grateful, it’s incredible how grateful they are,” another volunteer said.
It’s an event that made hundreds in the valley happy to give and happy to receive.
