SANDY, Utah – A lot of tinsel, elaborate decorations, and months and months of hard work have gone into creating the floats for the Days of ‘47 Parade.
This year there are 43 floats total – 37 of them were on display at the Mountain America Expo Center. The display is free and open to the public on Monday and Tuesday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.
This year’s theme is “Journey of Hope, a Pioneer Legacy.”
Tom Colligan has organized the float preview event for the past 25 years. He said around 5,000 people came to the preview party during the early years. Attendance has grown to around 30,000 people.
“It’s very important to show our pioneer heritage and celebrate what they’ve done for us,” said Colligan.
The Days of ‘47 Parade will take place Wednesday morning, July 24, starting at 9 a.m. The parade route runs from State Street and South Temple to Liberty Park.
You can watch the parade live on KSL TV, on the KSL TV streaming app or on ksltv.com.
