TOOELE, Utah – Police on Thursday released photos of items left inside a vehicle after it was allegedly carjacked with a child inside before being abandoned later.
Tooele City Police also asked for security camera footage from homes in the area of 1900 North and Berra Boulevard.
The alleged carjacking happened Tuesday when a man reportedly drove off in a car that was idling in a driveway. A 10-year-old boy was also inside the vehicle, but the perpetrator let him out approximately half a block away from the house, the child’s father said.
The boy’s mother immediately called 911, saying, “Somebody just stole my car and my son was inside!”
Police tracked the car to Magna where the man abandoned it and fled on foot. He left a blanket, a jacket and a knit cap inside.
Anyone who recognizes the items that were left in the car, or who has any information about the alleged carjacker, is asked to contact Det. Josh Curtis at 435-882-8900 or call Tooele County Dispatch at 435-882-5600 and choose option No. 1.
