Officials said it was reported that the motorcycle was traveling eastbound on 1700 South when a silver smaller front door SUV traveling westbound turned left onto South Main in front of the motorcycle.
“The motorcyclist attempted to avoid the collision, but collided head-on with another westbound passenger car. The motorcyclist was thrown from his motorcycle, then was struck by an additional westbound passenger car,” read a press release from the Clearfield City Police Department.
Emergency personnel from the North Davis Fire District and the Davis County Sheriff’s Office then requested a medical helicopter, according to police. It landed at the scene, but the motorcyclist succumbed to his injuries.
Police said the motorcyclist was a 47-year-old male from Ogden, but they were not releasing his name at this time.
The driver of the vehicle that struck the motorcyclist head-on and the other driver who struck the motorcyclist while on the ground were not injured.
“The silver smaller four door SUV that turned in front of the motorcycle did not stop and may not know the accident occurred,” read the release.
The incident was under investigation.
Anyone with information on the crash was asked to contact the Clearfield Police Department.
